A window to the world

Created by Law No. 161 of October 31, 1955, to integrate the Public Education Service, the library was named in honor of the physician, writer and cartoonist from Espírito Santo, José Madeira de Freitas. Currently, this important cultural facility is part of the structure of the Municipal Department of Culture and Tourism and has a collection of approximately 25 thousand books, from various areas of knowledge and 1,120 registered users.

The public can do their research and borrow books with options of national and foreign literature, collections, technical titles and children's and young adult works. They can also participate in various free courses, when offered.

The library also offers internet access for consultations via eight computers for use by the general public.

To register, interested parties must bring a photo ID, proof of residence and two 3 x 4 centimeters photos. Each reader can borrow up to 5 books, keeping them for 15 days.
